Painting to me is a very personal exploration that is influenced by many different things in my life. My paintings are process-driven, meaning I try to let the tactile quality of the paint, color, movement, and forms do the talking. I am also exploring the relationship between digital imagery and physical paint itself. I do not title my pieces as I prefer to let the viewer find their own meaning or ideas, however, I have categorized my paintings into two categories: Originals and Remixes.
Originals: These paintings are made up of acrylic paint on canvas or board, and occasionally transferred digital imagery. I start with a blank canvas, build on it over time until it stops at an interesting place and feels complete.
Remixes: These pieces are essentially digital “remixes” of sections of “Originals”, graphical elements, 3-dimensional shapes, lines, hand drawings, simulated textures, etc. The final output is printed and stretched on canvas to bring the digital piece back into the physical world.
